Mercedes, in their infinate wisdom, do not refer to any of these as SHORT wheelbase, the shortest model they make is referred to as a MEDIUM wheelbase or COMPACT, the middle one is referred to as LONG wheelbase and the longest one is referred to as the EXTRA LONG wheelbase.
WHEELBASE IDENTIFIER: The wheelbase can be identified by the following Chassis or Vin numbers, the part you need is the 3 digits AFTER the 639 model number, (ie A639 601 12345), the Vin number can be found on your V5 (Log-Book), Mot certificate or on the vehicle itself, under the bonnet or sometimes in the bottom left-hand side of the windscreen
Short wheelbase (aka Medium or Compact) chassis = 701, 711, 811
Medium wheelbase (aka Long) chassis = 603, 703, 713, 813
Long wheelbase (aka Extra Long) chassis = 605, 705, 815
